Cross Crountry

At Waikowhai Primary School 13th September 2019 all of us had a extremely fun time celebrating our Cross Crountry day. The year 6's were separated in the younger year groups, I was with a group of Year 5's. I was one of the leaders in the group who were giving out house points. We had a lot of activities to complete like Kicking Soccer goals, Obstacle Course, Skipping, Running. After we completed each station we got the first letter written on our arm so at the end we would have SKOR written with Vivid on our arm. Cross Country was a fun day and all of us enjoyed it. My favourite activities was kicking soccer goals. We were dressed in our house colours, at our school we have 4 groups that we call House Groups they are called Kea, Tui, Ruru, Pukeko I got put in the best house
KEA all of my siblings got put in the same house as me, the house groups are named after Native Birds. After we finished all of our activities and SKO was written on our arm that meant It was time to earn the R (stands for Run) and THE WHOLE SCHOOL WAS WATCHING US RUN!!!! When we set off I could hear everybody cheering and I thought it was going to be a good run and it was good. People who placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th went to Monte Cecilia to Cross Country Zones to compete against other schools.    Here are some photos of the day!!

SQUASH!!!!!!

Squash!!!!

Squash is a really fun sport that a man called Jude has taught us in our school hall. Squash has become my Number 1 favourite sport so far. It is really fun jumping around, diving for the ball (they call it Superman), hitting the ball and seeing how long we could last in a Rally. My high score for Squash was 19 in 5-4 sessions. The whole school enjoyed this sport and I hope to play it again some time. In each session we would have 3-4 stations and hand & Eye co ordination the other 3-4 stations would be the 2-3 walls in the hall and a Squash board. Our school had an amazing opportunity and if you ever get a chance to play then I would recommend that you try it! Jude is a really nice, funny guy and we really lucky to have an amazing instructor. We got into buddies and had relays against each other and we played a game called In & Out. Even the teachers thought it was an amazing sport so they had to jump up and try a Rally with Jude. For our Camp this year we chose to go to Mount Ruapehu, we spent lots of time and effort into this camp and it was a struggle especially with 84 kids in Public. I got my gear from my one of my Mum's closest friend because she has been to the snow a lot. When we had all our gear ready we brought it into school to check off. 

My first emotion for camp was EXCITED!! The placed we stayed at was amazing they cooked amazing food, had amazing rooms set up for us, and such comfortable bunk beds. 

Skiing & Snowboarding was so FUN!!! it is such an amazing sport and if you had the chance to go then I would recommend it. I got used to skiing so quickly and I enjoyed it so much in free time I never got tired because skiing is so fun. 

My favourite part was the Hot AC Baths because it was so relaxing to swim after our long cold Camp. The moment I was nervous was when I was in my first session. Camp was amazing!  I would highly recommend going. Thank you to the Mount Ruapehu staff and all our Senior teachers at Waikowhai Primary.

Mountain Thoughts

Aloha Bloggers! Tomorrow is going to be amazing we are so lucky to get the opportunity to go to Mount Ruapehu for our Senior School Camp. Before I go on camp I'm feeling a little nervous but excited at the same time. Nervous because I don't know how I'm gonna do without my family - like making bad decisions. Excited because it will be my first time skiing on real snow! Although I've been to Snow Planet before, it was fake snow not real. I feel like the thing that is gonna make me worry the most is sometimes people could get in the way and you might fall, tumble or roll into someone going down the hill. I think that skiing and staying in a room with so many people is going to push my limits because in the bedroom I have to think about others and make room for other people. When I am on camp I think I will gain lots of confidence and self management.  I think I will feel a bit more confident and thankful when I come back because the teachers and our parents have put in so much effort into this camp so we have to make it worth while. We will be on the Mountain from the 20th August - 23rd August.

Our Family Reunion

Narrative Night
For a couple of weeks I have been working on a Holiday Narrative. Holiday's are fun to write about because it's like reliving the good memories again. I had a lot of choices to write about because I did a lot in the holidays. I chose to write about my long trip to Tokoroa for my Family Reunion. We put a bit of twist into our stories to make it seem a bit more fun. Really, the trip was just long and boring but in my narrative, I made it seem fun, creative and adventurous. My narrative was one page long and a quarter of the 2nd page. We also did a '2 stars and a wish' with buddies. '2 stars and a wish' is another way of saying 2 positives and 1 goal. The 2 stars are something that the reader really liked about the Narrative and the Wish is something that you could improve on next time. Here is my Narrative:

 

Hauraki's Assembly

Assembly Time!

Bula Vinaka Bloggers! Today I am sharing my experience for my class' Assembly in our School Hall. It was fun but I was a little nervous standing in front of the whole school. If you don't do assemblies like we do then here is how we do it. 
Which ever class has their assembly, they should already have a Google Slideshow with lots of slides showing what the classes have worked. Then our technology team used teachers' laptop to click through the slideshow in our assemblies and play the music. In fact, I am one of those Tech people myself. All the students in our class had a few roles to do in the Assembly. This was an amazing Assembly! And thanks to our teachers, Ms Abedin and Ms Sands, we got our Assembly sorted out in 3-4 days practise. We used a microphone and speakers to help us be louder and clearer. My roles were: Saying a Poem sentence, Hand shaker for Merit Certificates and also saying a paragraph about our Litter Blitz Rubbish Street Pick-Up. Hauraki is an amazing class! My favourite part about this assembly was being a hand shaker because it was funny when I had to grab their hand because they held the wrong hand out to shake.
