Aloha Bloggers! Tomorrow is going to be amazing we are so lucky to get the opportunity to go to Mount Ruapehu for our Senior School Camp. Before I go on camp I'm feeling a little nervous but excited at the same time. Nervous because I don't know how I'm gonna do without my family - like making bad decisions. Excited because it will be my first time skiing on real snow! Although I've been to Snow Planet before, it was fake snow not real. I feel like the thing that is gonna make me worry the most is sometimes people could get in the way and you might fall, tumble or roll into someone going down the hill. I think that skiing and staying in a room with so many people is going to push my limits because in the bedroom I have to think about others and make room for other people. When I am on camp I think I will gain lots of confidence and self management.  I think I will feel a bit more confident and thankful when I come back because the teachers and our parents have put in so much effort into this camp so we have to make it worth while. We will be on the Mountain from the 20th August - 23rd August.

Our Family Reunion

Narrative Night
For a couple of weeks I have been working on a Holiday Narrative. Holiday's are fun to write about because it's like reliving the good memories again. I had a lot of choices to write about because I did a lot in the holidays. I chose to write about my long trip to Tokoroa for my Family Reunion. We put a bit of twist into our stories to make it seem a bit more fun. Really, the trip was just long and boring but in my narrative, I made it seem fun, creative and adventurous. My narrative was one page long and a quarter of the 2nd page. We also did a '2 stars and a wish' with buddies. '2 stars and a wish' is another way of saying 2 positives and 1 goal. The 2 stars are something that the reader really liked about the Narrative and the Wish is something that you could improve on next time. Here is my Narrative:

 

Hauraki's Assembly

Assembly Time!

Bula Vinaka Bloggers! Today I am sharing my experience for my class' Assembly in our School Hall. It was fun but I was a little nervous standing in front of the whole school. If you don't do assemblies like we do then here is how we do it. 
Which ever class has their assembly, they should already have a Google Slideshow with lots of slides showing what the classes have worked. Then our technology team used teachers' laptop to click through the slideshow in our assemblies and play the music. In fact, I am one of those Tech people myself. All the students in our class had a few roles to do in the Assembly. This was an amazing Assembly! And thanks to our teachers, Ms Abedin and Ms Sands, we got our Assembly sorted out in 3-4 days practise. We used a microphone and speakers to help us be louder and clearer. My roles were: Saying a Poem sentence, Hand shaker for Merit Certificates and also saying a paragraph about our Litter Blitz Rubbish Street Pick-Up. Hauraki is an amazing class! My favourite part about this assembly was being a hand shaker because it was funny when I had to grab their hand because they held the wrong hand out to shake.

Samoan Language Week

For Samoan Language week, Senior Students  answered a bunch of questions about the Samoan language on an app called Kahoot. All of the 3 Senior classes gathered together to do the quiz. First we had to type our name in so the teachers would know who is playing the game. Then we would play the quiz. The quiz was lots of fun, some of it was tricky but not to hard. We have lots of Samoan Children in the Seniors, and I am one of them. There was 11 questions in the quiz, I can’t remember but I’m pretty sure that I got 9 questions right and the other 2 wrong.

Student Led Toolkits!!!

Student Led Toolkits!!

Students from all 7 schools in Ako Hiko, attended an amazing event called
Student Led Toolkits runned by Gerhard (our Cybersmart teacher) and some
Hay Park students that had a necklace around their neck that said
“Ask me for help”. Waikowhai students travelled by some of the teachers cars
because it was pouring with rain that day. We first started off in the hall and
opened our Chromebooks and connected to the Wifi then we split off into the
groups that we chose to be in for the first session. I chose to go to Kahoot for my
first session. Straight after we finished our first session we came together in the
hall then went off to Morning Tea. Then when the bell rang, everyone just went
straight to our second session. My second session was learning how to use
scratch. After I finish learning how to use scratch, When I had finished I decided
that since I have spare time I can finish off my Student Led Toolkits challenge
which was a slideshow that had nine challenges to complete. I only got to finish
5 of them because I was too focused on my sessions instead of the challenge.
For my third session I went to the Google Drawing Art Session. After that some
kids won some prizes and it was time to drive back to school.

Positive Letterbox Drop

Friday 17th of May was a brilliant day because Waikowhai Primary School Senior students had an amazing time dropping off cardboard shirt cards.

Most of us made 2 or 3. All of us split up into 5 groups with one adult to take care of us because we would be crossing roads and there was a lot of us.

It was a really fun experience but I felt a bit nervous doing it because we were going out of school. Two things I didn't enjoy that day was that I was really looking forward to delivering my cards because I spent a lot of time on them and I would of felt very proud of myself for doing this but then I found out that we had to deliver what ever cards the teacher gave us which wasn't too bad for me but it would have been nice to deliver my own. The other thing was that the teachers put my best friend (Faith) and I in different groups.
Other than that Friday 17th of May was amazing I felt so happy about what we did, we have also done this in the past and a lady that got a card said that it uplifted her son because he had trouble in school and that card really helped him.

The New Adventure

Aloha intelligent people,

Have you ever written a Narrative before?

Because in Waikowhai Primary School our seniors has been writing magnificent Narratives.

My Narrative is called “The New Adventure”

It is about a Father and his son spending some boy time together at a fun place called the

“Green Grass Kingdom”

Then things flipped around at it wasn’t so fun anymore,

It’s started pouring down with rain, they were really hungry but there was no food and they were lost! But they kept trying and soon they found shelter with a Cafe inside.

During this part another classroom came over to help us write our Narratives,

I had a buddy who really likes Curry & Rice so he thought of writing so he said they bought 2 Curry & Rice meals so that is what happened.

As they were eating their meals it stop pouring  so they went to the car

and called the son’s Mum.
